Boa noite! Hope you are all doing well. We have had a whirlwind of activity lately. Last week we signed the purchase agreement for the house and ordered the title work. I hope we will be able to close this week. It would be wonderful to check that off the list!
Saturday Don went before the ordination council. He read his doctrinal statement and the pastors asked him questions for 2 hours. In the end, they recommended he be ordained. Sunday at North Salem with friends and family Don was ordained. We had a nice celebration afterward!
Our letters from Brazil and from the insurance company haven't come yet, so we had to cancel the trip to Chicago to apply for the visas. We hope to go next week. Believe me we will go a soon as possible! We may need to reschedule our vacation we had planned. We don't want to be gone when the papers come in!
Tomorrow Treyton turns 3!! We are having a little party for him. Cupcakes with candles.

Jody was the first in our family to be saved. She accepted Jesus as an 11 year old, but then never grew and matured as a Christian. About 20 years ago Jody began attending church again, taking Maggie and Emily with her. She rededicated her life and became involved in different ministries. After 9 years of prayer, Don came to know the Lord. Soon after the children, one by one, believed also.

Obidos, Para, Brazil
There are currently 46,000 people in Obidos, including 10 neighborhoods, and 7 villages that can only be reached by boat. In Obidos we will work to evangelize, disciple, build leaders and plant churches, who will then duplicate what we have done. We have a team of 2 national pastors and 1 national evangelist waiting for us to return to work with them.
Ministry Goals
- We hope to use a lot of relational evangelism! We chose our verse, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:31" for this reason. We pray that God will use our family to reach one family at a time. The word for "house" in Portuguese is "casa", thus "Casa1631 Ministries", and the house on stilts in the logo.
Preparation to minister, once we’re in Brazil
- Proverbs 16:3 Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.
- Learn Portuguese
- Become familiar with culture
- Learn to cook and where to shop
- Build relationships
- Find out needs & the pastors’ vision
Meeting Needs In the Established Churches:
- Physical needs such as feeding the sick, providing educational supplies, repairs, etc.
- Fellowship-movies, meals, games, sports
- Spiritual growth-Bibles studies for men, women, youth, couples, and children’s classes
- Edifying through preaching, financial support, helping with outreach
- Special-music, True Love Waits, creative movement, mentoring
Outreach (working with the established churches)
- Evangelism-door-to-door, sports, VBS
- Building relationships-cooking, building, providing clothing, etc.
- Building up leaders and planting churches
- Building churches
Long term goals
- Work with groups coming on short term trips
- Boat ministry
- Center - teach English, teach to make crafts to sell, activities, etc.

pastor don, pastor donny, preacher man, rev fields, and of course if you were catholic Father Fields would have a nice ring to it. I am praying for you guys and I am very excited.
